Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Thanks to Head of Haringey Libraries, Diana Edmonds for bringing some sense back to car parkig at Hornsey Library Car Park.

About a year ago about two thirds of the spaces in the car park were set aside for Y Gen staff at Y Gen's request. Y Gen is based in the Library building and uses the car park during the week.

Up till just very recently, these spaces which had for many years been made available for public parking have also been out of bounds for the public. I must have seen more than half a dozen parkers caught out by the change. Very frustrating given that Reflections weren't using them at the weekend

I've spoken with Diana about this, as I'm sure have others and thanks to Diana for investigating and putting things back to the status quo for the weekend.

Thanks also to Diana for arranging to update the signage in the car park. Last weekend, my car and others were locked in overnight. The current signage doesn't make it clear that the gates are locked overnight. I caught a council van nearby and they told me that they'd been approached a few times recently with the same issue.

Thanks for pointing this out, Hugh. It is so easy these days to make a small mistake and get done for a £60 fine - I try ever so hard to park legally but I still get caught out about once a year by misreading some sign or other. The car park behind Waitrose in Crouch End is also tricky - a confusing mixture of pay and display and business/resident parking that make it easy to park in the wrong space. Even if you have a pay and display ticket, showing good intentions, they still fine you.
