Well there was a heavy police presence at the end of Lausanne Rd on Friday because there was a funeral in St John's and the church had allegedly asked the police to be there as traffic wardens. How calmly they took the gentle ribbing I gave them for being glorified traffic wardens (and not very good ones at that) reinforced my belief that it was some big Greek Don who died and they were worried about trouble. Honestly, the traffic is worse every Sunday and there's not even a parking attendant around.
That's not a very helpful answer, I know... but they do show up in numbers around here quite often (contrary to popular belief).
There was something in the last LCSP minutes for the week of 11-17th Oct:
"Enforcement of 7.5 ton (except for access) weight limits will begin this month and be officially launched in the Week of Action. CCTV car to be used for prosecutions. All Ladder roads to be targeted, especially Wightman Rd. "
Recently scaffolding companies have been buying the 7.5t trucks but the still make an absolute racket when they go over speedhumps and there are still quite a few out there that are the big old ones. Bless those truck manufacturers for rorting the system with their 7490kgs vehicles.
