Police arrest, then release, Haringey Councillors
TWO Haringey Councillors were arrested and released in connection with a demonstration in support of the ‘Defend Our Juries’ campaign.
The Councillors' action stands in contrast with the earlier suppression of any discussion about Gaza in council, by the current Haringey Council leader (i.e. by Kier Starmer's local New Labour representative).

The Police action stands in contrast to the apparent absence of action in an unrelated matter involving Haringey Councillor(s) and/or a council employee. i.e. the fraud alleged in at least one property deal.
Over a 36-month period, Haringey Council lost at least £10,000,000 in irregular transactions. Plural.
In 2022, council leader Peray Ahmet belatedly but properly, agreed to an external investigation.
That led—a year later—to the [pre-redacted] Buss Report.
More than one Councillor volunteered to be interviewed.
The Council Chief Executive confirmed that the "full" version of the Buss Report was sent to the Met Police.
However—more than a year ago—the Ham & High reported that the Police investigation was still "ongoing".
One has to wonder how the Police investigation is going. In contrast with their arrests of Haringey Councillors at the top, there is no news of any charge or arrest relating to any Haringey Council property deal.

These are just a few of the photos I have taken where Jews have taken a stand against the genocide in Gaza. I also have photos of holocaust survivors and dependants of survivors supporting both Free Palestine protests and Palestine Action arrests.

Maggie, thanks for posting the photos (Jews against Genocide).
The Israeli Government and their overseas apologists often claim or insinuate that revulsion at war crimes and genocide in Gaza is motivated by anti-semitism. That is untrue, blinkered and intellectually dishonest.

Thanks, Maggie for mentioning that I'd asked Iris Allan if she was shocked by the Genocide in Gaza.
I had hoped - as I always do - that, that someone who is strongly pro-Israel might also find in their heart some empathy and mixed feelings for everyone now living in Israel/Palestine.
My special thanks as well for your photos which strongly support the point that Jews from within and outside Israel are among the now probably millions of humans across the planet, who loathe the butchery, siege, and starvation of Gaza people.
The brutality of that denial of empathy leaves me at a loss to know what can be done.

So that's it then.
No feelings at all for all those being killed in Gaza or the West Bank, no feelings for the children blown to bits. Nothing.
Luckily there are many in this world who condemn the killings and hostage taking of October 23 and also totally condemn the ongoing genocide and want to put an end to this evil savagery and slaughter.

There is evil savagery and slaughter all around the world at the moment, it is of deep suspicion to me that we are concentrating on this, to the exclusion of the others.

It's a question that I have often pondered too.
If Israel had genocidal intent wouldn't it first have acted against the 20% of its own population who are Arabs? Instead those Arabs are part of Israeli society and many serve in the defence force and protect their fellow Israelis from Iran, Hezbollah as well as Hamas and the myriad of other groups who themselves have genocidal intent towards Jewish people.

The John McMullan I remember as a friend was a clever well informed man. . As I suspect he knew, the word "Genocide" does not require that everyone in Gaza has been wiped out. Nor is it based on killing a specific number of people.
Surely you are well aware of the 1948 UN Convention definition. If you haven't got time to look it up, say in the helpful work of someone like Professor Omer Bartov, then CHATGPT can probably tell you within a few seconds !
