I've heard a rumour several times that the Piccadilly is going to close in its entirety for a matter of months at some point, while new trains are introduced. Does anyone have further info on this?
This was click-bait manipulation back in April around a statement from the Mayor that there would be closures for upgrades and introduction of the new trains. In fact the forthcoming partial short term closure is the only one foreseen to be longer than a weekend.
When the whole Metropolitan/Circle/Hammersmith & City/District set of lines was resignalled over several years, it was done in sections and no closure was longer than a weekend that I recall.
