This afternoon I saw an old cat lying in the shade of a street tree.
The fur coat was dark.
I said hello. The head lifted briefly and then flopped down. The animal seemed exhausted, so I brought some water in a carton.
Please keep an eye out for pets outside suffering in the present, record-breaking heat. They have less 'agency' than us humans.

Thank you for doing that.
I think a lot of us have cats, some with owners and some without, wandering around our gardens. If you can, leave shallow bowls of water out and remember to top them up regularly. They’re also good watering stations for wildlife like hedgehogs.
HUMANS and the heat
Haringey has listed some places to cool down (below).
This is helpful. N.B. only one is air-conditioned.
We'll need more of these as the Climate Crisis deepens and if lack of action continues.
Haringey Council passed a formal motion of a climate emergency seven years ago.
