Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Petition against putting Hampstead Heath and Highgate Woods Cafes out to corporate tender

If you are a regular Heath user, the Corporation of London is putting out all the independent cafes to tender - including the ones in Highgate and Queens Wood and the very reasonably priced one at Parliament Hill. Here’s a petition against the plan, which will see some corporate entity like Benugo take over and everything run to maximise profits. They tried a few years ago and public opposition stopped them in their tracks - please sign and share.

Not Queen's Wood (which is Haringey Council owned, not Corporation of London) the petition refers to Queen's Park.

Yes sorry, I was a bit unclear -  the Corporation of London manages the Heath, Highgate Wood and Queens Park in Kilburn, and is putting out to tender the cafes in all those places, hoping I think for a single corporate 'solution' as opposed to all those pesky independent businesses.

Queens Wood is managed by Haringey Council so that is unaffected.

If it was Gail's, I'd be right behind it.

The Heath cafe is a real hub for families, early morning walkers, tennis players etc…the food is good and the owner has kept it at the cheapest possible level to accommodate everyone, their ice creams are also delicious. The lido cafe and Golders hill park cafes ( all excellent independent cafes) are also in danger.  Please anyone who’s interested sign the petition

The issue was reported in the Camden New Journal this week.
