Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi All- just to let you all know. We have a Play Street event on Pemberton Road this coming Sunday- the last before Christmas- between 12.30 to 3.30. The BBC Weather does not extend to Sunday, but with luck it shall hold.

So, bring your mince pies, mulled wine & any other food you might like to share, your kids and their scooters & chalks to Play Out on Pemberton in a car free environment.

As ever, we welcome help with marshalling, so please let me know if you are able to marshal at all, and let me know if you have a preferred time?

Hi, I am planning to help run a community event next year and would like to close a street - could you point me in the right direction to make it happen. Do I start with the council? Thanks.

Not sure what your event is for, but I would start here with these guys (from the Haringey Website)- traffic.orders@haringey.gov.uk

Let me know if you need names and numbers if you do not get a response. So far they have been pretty good with me.

For future use - how did you demonstrate majority resident support ?

John. I put a 'consultation' letter through folks doors and then traipsed up and down the road getting as many folks to sign it as possible- in this case I think about 60 or so out of 120 or so house holds.

If you are interested John, Paul Wheeler, one of the organisers of the first Play Street on Avondale/ Claronden has just set up a Harringay Play Street Facebook Page message me your email and I will put you in touch and you can join the group. It has been set up to share experiences and share information with others interested in Play Street.

Hi Justin, I'm really pleased that this is off the ground. Introducing play streets in the borough is one of my pride and joy projects.

Nilgun. Yes, its a great initiative, and I appreciate your support. Pop by and say hi if you have time on Sunday!

Thanks. I'll try. Have fun!

I love these.  It means kids can have a taste of what a lot of us just took for granted when we were younger.  How about a whole Ladder play street one day (when the weather gets better?).  I can imagine a great game of tag along the whole length of Harringay Passage and Pooh-Sticks from the bridges.
