Quick question - am I likely to find a pay & display space near the hospital or is it going to be a nightmare? I'm heading out of London tomorrow, just wondering if it's worth trying to stop on my way, as I have to get a blood test done at some point. Any roads recommended?

Hi Gillian,
yes, there are pay and display parts on magdala avenue but they are usually quite busy/occupied. I think the maximum stay period is 2 hours and the road just round the corner from magdala avenue; dartmouth park hill has some bays too and they are for 3 hours max. 3 hours costs us about £9 usually. pay by cash or phone on both roads.
hope this helps

Hi, there are also pay and display bays on Highgate Hill, below Waterlow Park. For some strange reason the various sets of bays down this stretch have different pricing structures. Seem to recall if you can get a space at the bottom of the hill outside the hospital it is half the price of a space 10m further up the hill!!Think they all have a 2 hour limit, but don't quote me.
a bit late but might be useful for others.
I normally park at the end of Gladsmuir and Harberton roads. it's only restricted from 12 until 2 I think, so ideal if your appointment is outside those hours. There's pay and display there as well for within those hours, but do make sure that you park in the correct bays for it .

you can then walk through the underpass, along Despard road and it brings you out just up from the A&E
The number 41 bus from Turnpike Lane is frequent, reliable, and takes about 20 minutes, delivering the passenger to within 100 yards of the main hospital entrance. I took my (92 year old) mother-in-law for yet another appointment there on Wednesday. Bus drivers very helpful with putting ramp down etc. I love London buses and the tube.
I've just returned. On a previous occasion I managed to get a parking ticket from overstaying the allotted time at Pay and Display so this time I went by bus, the W5, and it worked really well and the main thing for me was that I did not have to panic and clock watch as the appointment time over ran. The W5 is an excellent service going from Sainsburys Green Lanes through Crouch End and stops outside of the Whittington.
On the lines on public transport, I get the train from Harringay Green Lanes to Upper Holloway. It is a 10 min walk up the hill to the hospital. I am having my baby there soon and have been worrying about parking as there doesn't seem to be any! I doubt I will manage the train in labour (!) so will get a taxi as there is no parking for any long periods of time.
