A new planning application has been lodged for the construction of an outside licensed group of 'food courts' in Finsbury Park, near the Manor House Gate.
It would be part of the planned Open Arms Festival, lasting from 17th May to 17th September.
If the plans are approved, the 'court' would spread over 200m², Covering an area which is currently quite well used by groups of people.
The application describes the erection of four "food courts"
to provide food/drink refreshments and ancillary from Wednesdays - Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays.
This satellite view from the planning application shows the proposed location (the area ringed lightly in red, just to the south-wets of the running track).
The next image, also in the application, shows the site plan.
If you can't envisage the location, this Google Maps birds-eye-view may help.
Here is a view from the footpath, to the east of the proposed site.
The following image shows what the kitchen/servery buildings would look like.
The full planning application can be viewed on Haringey's website here.

This is the application for planning permission for the buildings required for The Open Arms pub.
See previous discussion.
It’s interesting that the estimated total cost is up to £2m. This seems rather a lot to spend on temporary buildings, the organisers will have to sell a lot of food and drink in four months to cover this £2m plus their staffing and other running costs.
I was interested to see that city pubs were supposedly missing out on £90k a week because they were closed. I appreciate that’s just mid week drinking but the implication here is that a LOT of beer would have to be drunk here to justify £2 million of cost. I wonder what The Park Cafe and The Finsbury think about this.
I think that is a very rough estimate provided only in order to tick a box, and to which the applicants have given very little thought. If they were providing a few big tents the cost would be only £5,000 perhaps, which falls under £2m. Maybe £2m is some sort of planning breakpoint above which different rules apply.
Probably futile, but potentially informative, if you have the energy, to email the applicants and ask for the true cost.
On top of the outdoor pub proposeal, this will be further encroaching use of the park for commercial purposes.
I do understand that it will generate income for the park, but I imagine it will add to litter, loitering and generally ruin the ambience of a quiet green space in which to relax.
And yes I'm sure it will become permanent.
'Loitering'.... in a park. Come now.
I agree it looks great.
Hopefully there will be enough portaloos on site.
The second image in the first post above shows the site plan, with a block of "10 compoost toilets" (their spelling not mine!).
It looks fantastic.
I live 5 mins away and love the idea of it. I will write in and support it.
The Manor House area, which has been shabby and crime-infested for ages, needs more of this kind of thing + hospitality businesses need our full support at the moment.
Well done, the Council!
