The New River is so high it's running over the path at Finsbury Park and flooding the cricket pitch. I've never seen this before - does anyone know if it's closed downstream or something else is causing it?

It's lapping the top of the banks here at Hornsey Station.
It is currently flowing fast into the East Reservoir where the water level is 60cm higher than yesterday. Rising water levels are bad for the birds nesting in the river, many Coot and Moorhen nests will have been flooded and the eggs lost.
*Edit* Just heard it is due to a burst main at Hornsey
Ah, that explains the low pressure in the water today...
Hi Justin,
You're Falkland Rd aren't you - to confirm are you still experiencing low pressure?
Cheers
No, Pemberton. The pressure is up, but not as high as normal (I think). Certainly this morning we could not get enough water through the shower to have the boiler heat it...
This from Twitter:
@harringayonline They must be pumping water out of the storage aquifer at Station Road N22 as the new river is a pumped waterway

It's back down to normal level here at Hornsey Station.
I just walked along the river from Lordship Road to Endymion Rd and all the Coot and Moorhen nests have been inundated, and if that isn't bad enough there were a large number of dead fish floating in the river, Roach I think. Only winners appeared to be the Herons.
That's awful. Why dead fish - would the excess water have been contaminated?
The dead fish will be due to low oxygen levels in the water I think, a combination of recent warmer weather and the addition of low-oxygen water from the burst water main. I just came along that stretch again on my way back from shopping and counted 56 dead fish. I've told Thames Water about it and they have passed it on to the New River team. Apparently the water main burst at 3.30am but Thames Water didn't find out about it until 9am.
By contrast, one day last week we had a brief power cut and I got a text from UK Power Networks almost straight away.
I had the same problem as Justin this morning.
