Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I think it's called Dandalus. Up between Fairfax and Falkland. Sadly it looks empty most of the time so I was wondering if they've just not marketed properly or whether the food is really that bad? It's not like we're spoilt for choice in the African restaurant sector (apart from Muna's - and I don't think this one is Eritrean).

I had a look at the menu and it is Ghanaian or Nigerian (or west African at least). Jollof rice, pepper soup and the like.
It looks like they have made an effort doing the place up. When I walked past there were about four people in there.

It didn't seem overly inviting though- I stopped and read the menu in the window and the waitress stood inside glaring at me...maybe I was being over sensitive!

Would also be interested in hearing some reviews- the road could do with a bit of diversity in the restaurants.
My impression is that they're not looking for customers off the street. Note the opaque sticky back plastic added to their front door designed to obscure view into the restaurant. One doesn't encourage custom that way. I have seen parties in there and I'd guess that's their main custom.
I actually went in there a few weeks ago, just to ask them about the food and they (the owners, a family) were extremely friendly and inviting! I think they are just very new to the world of restaurnt owning and don't really know how to promote themselves (the overly fancy decor doesn't help, I admit).

I did promise to go back to try the food, but haven't had a chance yet.

shall we go?!
Seems like you're right about issues with promoting the restaurant. I can't find them through Google. It's definitely called Dandalus?
it's Nigerian, and the goat curry is really excellent. Maybe needs a tad more sauce, but was one of the best I've tried in London.
Hi Vikram, would be great if you would write a review of for us in the Local Cafe and Restaurant group, if you get a minute.
We went there recently , the food was very tasty - the goat curry was good. They were very friendly. I would go there again. Just need more people to give it some atmosphere !
Do you remember the name?
I think it's Dandalus.
I just popped in lateish one night for a take away. The owner and I sat watching football as they insisted on making the food from scratch.
The cooking is from the Ebo part of Nigeria, if that helps, and the jollof rice was pretty decent as well.
The impressive thing about the curried goat was the texture of the meat, as well as the flavour. It was on a par, if not better than, Rhythmn bar in Crouch End.
I live a few minutes away and there's never been enough people in there, fingers crossed it stays afloat.
And to site admin about a review, I'll try when I get back there for an eat in meal.
Thanks for that. Sounds really good. I'm going to give it a go and will report back. I am partial to a good goat curry so that's first on my list.
And a review for us?
There's absolutely nothing on Google. That's unusual.
