Need to Borrow a DVI to Mac Converter for 10 minutes

Does anyone have a DVI to Mac converter I can borrow for 10 minutes?

I'm trying to isolate a problem new Dell monitor has when connected to my Macbook via DVI. (My wifi signal drops from 20 MB to 1MB or less when connected with the DVI lead). I've ruled out the computer through the loan of a neighbour's Macbook. I now eed to rule out the connector as the cause.

DVI from one side and what the other?

FireWire or Thunderbolt.

Not sure if this is the same thing Hugh but I have an iWires mini display port to HDMI cable for Mac. Happy to lend it.

Thanks Justin. It may do the job, but to test for proper functioning, I really need a DVI to FireWire/Thunderbolt

I have one you can borrow, Hugh. It's a mini-display port (same as thunderbolt connector) to DVI. Like this: http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MB570Z/B/mini-displayport-to-dvi-...

Wunderbar - that's the one. Thank you.

Hi Hugh,I hope you have found that changing the lead cures the problem. If not, I'd be glad to try to help. I'm a retired electronics engineer, though I have to say that radio compatibility problems like this were often the ones that made me scratch my head!

WiFi is usually pretty resilient though, especially if you have a router with several aerials, and it's not screened by something in the way.

Thanks Bob. I appreciate the offer. If a simple swap doesn't do the trick, I'll make contact

Issue resolved - story here.

That's great to hear, Hugh!  Full marks to Dell customer care.

As a matter of interest though (since I use Virgin wifi, though not at present with a Mac), what was the exact problem?

Something wrong with the adapter from Maplins. I think a design issue

Strange. I hope it gets sorted out so that other people don't have the same problem.
