Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi everyone,

I've been thinking about a name for our new market.

A few ideas:

Falkland Road Market (cause the venue is on Falkland Road)

Harringay Mkt

Falkland Fayre

Harringay Food Mkt (but then you exclude the arts stalls)

Harringay Sunday Mkt

I'd like to hear some of your ideas and which one of these names you like cause I find it hard to make a choice.

Thanks,

Jessica

Harringay Mkt sounds about right to me and well done!

1. Harringay Sunday Mkt

2. Harringay Mkt

Harringay Mkt

+1 for Harringay Mkt.

Harringay Mkt.

Harringay Sunday Mt sounds good to me - Harringay encompasses the whole borough and Sunday tells everyone which day it'll take place without looking it up. (Maybe they will look it up anyway to find out where it is.....) Second choice - Harringay Mkt.

To be accurate Haringey encompasses the whole borough, Harringay is just our neighbourhood. (Here's a quick swot for those who aren't clear about their neighbourhood name - and here's the full fat version).

Thanks Hugh, i expect you must be a little weary of explaining by now!!! I certainly am!!!!  ;)

Hi Jessica hope you're all well, sounds like the project is moving forward fast- well done and thank you for your efforts :) I'd say Harringay Mkt says it well... hope you had a good Easter break and take care talk soon Suzi

Harringay Mkt would be fine for local residents but other people might appreciate a more precise indication of where it is.  If there not going to be signboards (as there are for the Alexandra Palace Park Farmers' Market which oscillates between two sites) then perhaps it should be Harringay Falkland Market.

Did you know this is building on a history of markets in Harringay? One, on Salisbury Road I think, occasioned a big tussle between the market traders and Tottenham Council in the 1920s. See this old film footage

There were then one or two markets in the 1960s and 1970s around where the Arena shopping mall is.
