Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The Licensing Committee has granted permission for a premises licence for Betfred (next to the Post Office). One slender hope remains in the form of a possible refusal from the Planning Inspectorate for planning permission, whose decision is still awaited, but with the licence now granted, the scales are tipped further against us.

What all this means, which of course we already knew, is that it is impossible to prevent an unlimited number of betting shops opening in our community.

I'm guessing we'll have no such luck Ruth.
Work has now commenced and is progressing rapidly.
Where are the squatters when we need them?
Cant a few be rustled up and told about this place? Mind you, not fair on them ultimately. It is odd that Betfred havent made a move yet to refurb the place. I still think there is a chance they have may pull out for some reason? I know I know... I live in a parallel universe sometimes
I had a quick chat to the workmen at 513 yesterday. They say work is proceeding apace and we can expect to see Betfred open within a couple of weeks.

Can't wait.
First they came for the banks and building societies and we could do nothing, then they came for the pubs and we could do nothing and now they come for the independent record shop on Tottenham High Road and still we can do nothing...whatever local powers can be wrested from central government, it cannot come a moment too soon and let's hope that David Lammy's campaign to amend the Localism bill will be successful.
Was talking to my family about this during our recent visit, my brother came up with the "bright" idea of bombarding the place with ourselves who fill out the shop and place ridiculously small bets, e.g. "I'll have 25p on Harringay Harridian on the 12.30 at Chepstow", we could take it in shifts.
Haha, love it! Or just go in there and take up space, but not spending anything. Just being annoying..
THis is a fantastic idea!
And would be very good if a lot of women went in there cus even in this day and age, betting shops are more likely to b full of men. Women going in and pretending not to know what to do and creating a fuss would be good....
Let's do it! I'm in. Who else?
We have been here before Anette. I'm in too, but I reckon we'll get no more than ten people and that will just not work. We need at least 50 punters.
