Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Recently I purchased a Telraam S2 device and set it up to monitor traffic passing my house on Wightman Road. The thing sends its data to the Telraam system and it is available for anyone to see simply by looking at the Telraam online map, https://telraam.net/en#14/51.5827/-0.1061 As my house is near a zebra crossing by a bend, you are not likely to see any vehicle speeding (which would mean over 20mph or 32 kph) and the few that do exceed this figure are probably delivery scooters. I have not asked for a subscription account so the data collected is the basic grade. Sadly, this does not distinguish between different types of heavy vehicle so this category will include everything from delivery vans to the occasional long articulated lorry taking building supplies.

Even the last three days show that, during the day, we see between 800 and 1000 vehicles per hour passing this point. It is sad to see that so few of these monitoring devices are operating in our area. I see that there are two on the Archway Road although their data do not seem to agree with each other.  My guess is that one of them is on the dual carriageway section and may not be capturing both streams fully.

The Telraam system was created in Belgium and the maps shows that there are hundreds of monitors in use there.  In our country, there are little knots of interest (eg in Oxfordshire, Cambridge, South Birmingham, etc) but there must be plenty of potential for more given how much people generally dislike traffic on residential roads.
