I do hope they take a short detour to the Stanley Rd drug shanty town that has sprung up in the pocket park opposite St John Vianney primary school. Much of the spike in local anti-social behaviour and crime can be linked back to that nest.

There was no itinerary on the email I received Eric but the starting point would suggest north to south along the Passage.

Eric, I think this event is being organised by the Harringay ward SNT. Perhaps you should be contacting  the appropriate ward's SNT rather than expecting the Harringay ward SNT to cross the border. I also think that the St Ann's or West Green ward SNTs are based through Tottenham Police Station, rather than the Wood Green Police Station. The ward's councillors or even the MP should be acting over this.

Hi Peter. Much of the spike in local crime in Harringay ward as well as St. Anne's and the Gardens can be linked back to the people congregating at the Stanley Road shanty town. It's about 150m across the 'border'. A bit of joined up thinking is required.

You’re right of course Eric that the approach needs to be joined up - crime doesn’t stick to ward or community safety team boundaries - but we are where we are.  

I think that the Met Engage offer of meeting up at The Passage is the result of intensive lobbying and reporting by people living on the Ladder - often coordinated through street WhatsApp groups.  It shouldn’t be the case but coordinated reporting pushes an issue to the top of the pile.  Ward councillors also need to be part of the lobby as they are the ones who can access those who make decsions on policing priorities.

A bit of a side issue but an example of how a coordinated response works is in Muswell Hill.  I have a friend who lives there and there is a WhatsApp group that exists solely to report dumped rubbish.  If someone spots some they let others in the group know and dozens of reports are submitted to Veolia.  It gets cleared up in hours.
