London Fleadh to return to Finsbury Park?
Irish music mogul Vince Power has indicated that the Fleadh will be back in action at Finsbury Park later this year.
The Waterford-born promoter says it’s been on his radar for some time, and with it being 20 years since the first Fleadh in the north London park, now seems the perfect time to revive it in the capital.
“The reason it disappeared in 2004 was because many of the Irish were going back home to the booming economy. Now that the recession is in full swing again the younger generation are returning to London looking for work and the time is definitely right.”

Me too. There has been a sad lack of Fins Park festivals since teh Fleadh stopped and then the Rise Festival halted by Bojo. I hope this 'mogul' can pull some strings to get it organised. I am a bit tired of just fun fairs and circuses being held there!

I'm really glad there have been fewer festivals in recent years - one summer there were seven wekeend festivals in a row. The park was partially closed off for the entire time as stages were taken down and put up, there were noisy sound checks all day Friday and then non-stop noise all weekend. Plus the traffic was diverted and parking spaces suspended. When the park was finally restored to its users it had been totally trashed by all the people.
I hope Haringey doesn't see this as a good way to turn a penny and subject us to the same disruption and noise. One or two concerts a summer is quie enough, thanks.

But going from too many to too few.... I also dont like the disruption (FP is my running area!) nor the money making side of it but I think there should be one or two that are something to do with London/local area at least, not like that one a month or so ago, the Rage thingie. What was all that about?
Something like Rise and then the Fleadh- perfekt. Enuff. I dont want to have to go someplace to camp and queue and get ripped off over days...

so long as the organisation is better than the hop farm last week - can't face queueing over an hour for a beer/burger/wee/coffee/water again :o(

There was no organisation at Hop Farm Ed. I was at the back of the crowd at the main stage, near the fairground ride. Seasick Steve came on, started his set, and then the ride kicked in - couldn't hear a flippin thing! I was incandescent with rage! A fairground ride opposite the main stage - great planning!

And don't get me started on the lack of Dylan close-ups on the big screen! Was only able to make him out via his hat and weird bell boy trousers.
Will be dropping Vince Power an uppity email. All well and good organising these festivals, but quite frankly, the lack of attention to organisation is atrocious. Would welcome the Fleadh back to FP - but don't want to be treated like cattle when I get there.
