Still running, Hugh - they're just announcing the results now at about 11.40 p.m. Quite an exciting day!
Haringey held the result up for the whole of London (and beyond) by 4 hrs with a power cut and two missing ballot boxes. Typical!
I think there was one big loser in yesterday's elections: democracy. Two thirds of registered electors did not bother to vote. This ought to concern all political parties and anyone concerned about participation in the political process.
Both main Mayoral candidates were given opportunities to endorse the Alexandra Palace South East wing as a UN World Heritage site.
This was a cross-party proposal and won endorsement from MPs Lynne Featherstone and David Lammy and members of the House of Lords (appointees from all the main parties).
There was not any reply from the office of Ken Livingstone.
Boris Johnson sent a fulsome, handsome, one-page written letter of endorsement.
At a time of Con-Dem enforced austerity .. it is certainly amusing to read their 'hangers-on' wanting financial endorsement for a white elephant!
So that's what lost it - dagnabit!
