Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I was disturbed to hear that they were trying to turn La Vina, the Spanish restaurant, on WIghtman Road, into flats.

Planning permission has been refused: see here

The reasons given are mainly to do with inadequate plans for the flats, although they do also cite lack of evidence that the owners have marketed the site as a resaurant for at least a year, which is required.

We'd be very sorry to lose that restaurant, but if the owners don't want to continue then we'll have to hope someone else does, though i suspect the flats plan will eventually go through

The cafe next to the dry cleaners is Moka

Oops! Got me Moka and Blend mixed up
Hopefully someone will offered enough for it remain cafe or restaurant but if not I wish the man and his family all the best- always so friendly and has worked hard- his choice to do what he wishes with his retirement and property. Sad to see close but good luck
I think we already covered that it’s not his choice in the thread above.

If you're talking about Hassan, he wasn't the owner, he just worked there a long time and as far as i know was nominally in charge on the night - but you're right he put a lot of energy into making that place so friendly.

If i had the money i'd buy it myself and make that restaurant work harder - they just didn't market it enough - i live nearby and haven't seen a leaflet or any new offers or special evenings etc for years

in contrast you see how hard Tramp is trying to innovate (although they still haven't enticed me back there after one unsatisfactory but expensive evening...)

OK, so how much do you think you'd need? Could we entice Hassan back?
