The Je suis Charlie affair confirms two wrongs don't make a right. On the one hand, a bunch of murdering bigots and on the other, a group provocative cartoonists who have become martyrs after misjudging the reaction.
If they spent more time satirising Boris, May and the Met they would be alive today. (Actually, I am not sure about that - the Minister of Mordor and Slippery Boris look capable of misdeeds.)
They are / were in Paris. Why would they satirise May, et al ?
From what I have seen it appears to be more satirising religion more than French Politicians. Read this, it is an interesting perspective on it. I guess a key issue is Charlie Hebdo having a lack of respect for what others value, no matter how cranky and mediaeval it is.
