Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Various pieces have been popping up about the anonymous release of our medical records.

Whilst most of us would be happy to support anonymous research uses of our data, respectable opinion suggests that the way this is being done hasn't been sufficiently thought through or debated.

Now, whilst most of us would find it impossible to believe that the current administration wouldn't think things through, this may be an issue you'd like to investigative for yourself.

If you decide to, you can choose to opt out and stop your records being shared.

and if, once you have read and digested everything, you do decide to opt-out, you can download the form to complete here be aware that you must send the form to your GP by June 23rd

If you are at the Heron Practice on Green Lanes, the email address to send your form to is cahccg.theheronpractice@nhs.net

i’m not 100%, but i think the form must be an original, and NOT a scanned copy, so not emailed.

Ed, the page you linked to says:

you can send the form by post or email to your GP practice.

thanks Hugh - i missed that bit obviously!

I e mailed ours and have received confirmation from our surgery that our preferences have been updated.

Your surgery has done better than ours then! I emailed ours but haven't heard back.

I found this online opt-out. Is it for something different?

Okay, I think I found out what the difference is.

The one you do through your GP (a Type 1 opt-out) stops information held by your GP from going beyond your GP to NHS Central.

The option I linked to in my last comment (a National data opt-out) stops NHS digital releasing beyond the NHS any information they hold about you anywhere in the NHS.

This LBC article explains.

the NHS app which i use to reorder my prescriptions and so forth has the option there to opt in or out and you do not need to complete any other forms

This is not correct Nick. There are two type of opt-outs (as detailed above). It might be a good idea to read about them and then delete this post, to save others making the same mistake. The NHS has made it confusing enough as it is.

Please see attachment I have added. It clearly gives you the option to opt out so unless there is something else I’ve missed, please show me, I will not delete post
