Here's the image. Unlike the original tweeted image, I've obscured the resident's vehicle registration number. The issue of privacy was later cited by Mr Ware.

He didn't vote, so he didn't vote UKIP.
If Thornberry thinks that's who does, she's barking up the wrong tree. If the flag is whataboutery, why did Emily think it important? Why did she pointedly tweet them on her TL? It explains nothing. He might be nasty. He might be nice. But he didn't vote for Reckless or Farage.
We're all showing our age here panicking about flags*.
I'm much more worried that 16,867 people that did vote for him might think that one of the most right-wing governments we've ever had isn't right-wing enough for them or that there are established politicians like Reckless and Carswell that are unperturbed by their leader's association with holocaust deniers.
But Clive's question was "is this snobbery?"
Why, yes Clive, yes it was.
*The St George Cross is mostly flown by racists rather than football fans.
Hmmm, really? Google 'Britain First' images - I think you'll find they much prefer the Union Jack like their friends the BNP and the National Front

Almost a quarter (24 per cent), of the English said they considered their flag to be racist, poll by British Future by YouGov 2012.
Even the Tories talked of the need to detoxify the St Georges Cross, and my reaction to seeing a house covered in the St Georges flags is visceral.
However you are right that the "Fact remains 16,000+ non-whitevanowning, non-flag waving (probably) disaffected Tory voters should be of more concern to us than a bloke who didn't even know there was an election on." and of as much concern is that in the 2010 election some of those Tory voters were Labour supporters. -

Good point. The guy said he had the flags out for the England/Scotland game. Politicians don't know about that stuff. It's true that proper fascist types wave the Union Flag. I think most people who get upset about the St George's Cross are behind the curve. About time people in England can feel ok about a bit of patriotic feeling without being labelled nazis.....There is a strong element of guilt behind some lefties worry about flags, but relax guys....

Flags can arouse passion.
As a Kiwi, I agree with NZ's PM about a need to change the flag that is easily confused with Australia's ... however I part company with him over his personally favoured option.
His preference (and lots of rugby fans) is for a silver fern on a black background.
Long before the Daily Mail compared this with the flag of ISIS, I thought this style to be cold and severe and inappropriate for a national flag.
The mighty All Blacks are welcome to keep it as their symbol, but no matter how popular a national sport, it ought not dictate a national/international symbol that should last a long time. IMO, the right way to approach this is first to consider what criteria to use.
There's to be a referendum and I hope to enter my own handiwork in due course.

Canadians had a similar problem and solved it with the now world wide recognised maple leaf.
NZ surely must go down a similar path by having two black stripes and 'that bird' on a silver background.

No, there's no time to relax and it has nothing to do with being a leftie either. Many politicians and commentators also thought the original n+zis were just a flash in the pan, just like we read here in this post. 'Go along with them and all will disappear within six months'. That was the line - they were all proven wrong.
Patriotism is an emotion. You don't need flags to be patriotic. This is of course also part of the Poppy Wearing story. But leaving that aside, people have to realise it isn't 'patriotic' to slag off people not born in the UK, nor is it patriotic slaughtering people in any conflict.
I get sick of all the stories about 'foreigners' taking away all the jobs and homes. That's what the n+zis said about jews and set about taking their jobs & homes away. This is BTW, one of the very few policies UKIP does have.
