Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

A huge and ugly advert for Paul Simon has been put up on the side of a house at the top of Hermitage Road. I don't have the skills to upload a photo but as it's at least 4 meters by 6 meters you will be able to see it from Green Lanes and possibly also Google Earth. Please can someone point me towards the nice people who got the other ones taken down?

I think for this one I was in touch with Niall Bolger and Nilgun Canver (1st name dot 2nd name @haringey.gov.uk.
Brian Ellick at the Haringey Enforcement Team forced the removal of a similar [but smaller] advertising banner on Cavendish Road. Brian.Ellick@Haringey.gov.uk
Thanks, I've written to both Nilgun and Brian and hopefully it will be gone soon, here is a photo

A section of this discussion veered into another discussion about estate agents, This has been moved here.
I wrote to Haringey Enforcement Team and Nilgun Carver a week ago. She is on leave for a while and he hasn't replied so the sign remains. Anyone got a suggestion for the next step please? If only I was tall enough to hop up there with a pair of scissors and snip it down :)
Try calling Ellick - 020 8489 8237 and at the same time it's probably worth getting it in the enforcement system, I learned today - use the Council's Report a (Planning) Problem page.
The giant Paul Simon sign remains in all it's glory. There was no reply to my email so I called Mr Ellick and was told by a mystery Haringey employee that he has now left his job. So I left the information again and was assured that someone would get back to me last week, but they didn't. I also email Fatema Begum in Enforcement as instructed. She is equally quiet. I'm starting to feel ignored and lonely, don't Haringey love me?
This is looking pretty shoddy.

I've "shared" this thread wit Nilgun Canver who has cabinet responsibility for enforcement. I wonder if it would be worth your copying your correspondence to your councillors, one of whom happens to be the Leader of Haringey Council?
I've received a letter from Haringey saying they will visit the site on 29th June to see if there is a problem.

So, even if they take it down that day Paul Simon will still have made at least one month's advertising for the cost of a large banner. I can see why it would be worth having a go.
Yep. That's how it goes. Same for the owners of commercial billboards.

Nothing much will change unless there are effective sanctions. Which would have to mean a net financial loss - either in fines or in loss of customers for the business putting up the banner or billboard.

This and/or a billboard levy could be very popular new tax!
Back in May I started this discussion about a massive and clearly illegal advert for Paul Simon Homes on the side of no 2 Hermitage Road. It's still there! I wrote to Harringey in June and a couple of months later received a letter saying it was indeed illegal and they were passing the matter to another department. :(
