As you may know two devastating earthquakes struck south-eastern Turkey near the border with Syria on Monday 6 February 2023.
Thousands of people are dead and many are injured. Rescue workers are desperately searching for survivors in cities and towns across the area.

Local communities in the area are organising collections to help and you may have already donated via a local school, community centre or other scheme but if you would like to help the DEC have a list of charities working in the area including Islamic Relief, the British Red Cross and Save the Children.

It is worth noting that this devastating earthquake took place in the region of Turkey where many of our Kurdish and Turkish neighbours come from. The names of restaurants on Green Lanes including Gaziantep and Dyarbakir reflect this connection.

The earthquake has also affected thousands of people in Syria, many of whom are already refugees living in desperate circumstances.
