Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hornsey Goods Yard Development (Lotus Building) - consultation ends 31 July

The plans for the development of this site are not new, but personally. I've only just skimmed through the documents.

You can see the full set of documents and comment at https://publicregister.haringey.gov.uk/pr/s/planning-application/a0...

I made the following perhaps rather esoteric comment relating to the heritage assessment.

"One historical feature of this site seems to have been missed in the heritage impact assessment.

"The land marked for development became part of the Harringay House estate in the second half of the second decade of the Eighteenth century. The southern boundary of the plot marks the route of a carriage way that ran to Harringay House, (at one point one of the largest if not the largest estate in the borough). Either side of that road were identifiable field that were part of the estate. To the south was Tile Kiln Field, which was mentioned in the Marchams' 'Court Rolls of Hornsey' as being referenced in both 1627 and 1630. To the north of the road most of the plot is on the site of Upper Pond Field.

"When the Great Northern Line was constructed in the middle of the 19th century, to accommodate the continued use of this carriageway, the railway embankment was interrupted and a stone viaduct built to carry the rail lines The viaduct is pictured in a mid-1880s watercolour by Harold Lawes."

(I went on to request that this overlooked element of the sites history be included on the more general history of the site)

Below is a collection of images to give you some sense of the development.
