Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I found this wooden sign in a local skip today ... I can make out most of the text (see below). I'm guessing it's General Post Office related, could that really be the date 1092?

Any ideas what it might be for?

That is a batch number not a date.. Nothing wooden would survive that length of time..

The General Post Office was established in 1660 and closed down in 1969 so somewhere between those dates (more likely nearer the end!). Probably part of a wooden crate for transporting telecoms equipment.  Still though, not in bad nick for something used over and over again that’s at least 40 years old.

There used to be a GPO telephone factory in Holloway - might be something to do with that. Article by a former BT archivist on page 16 here : http://www.clcomms.com/iahs/2018/iahs-autumn-2018.pdf
