Jake - it won’t cost millions as it won’t be fully reversed. HDV might be unpopular in here and with some labour members but your average member of Harringay has no issues. It simply won’t be reversed because the consequences effecting other services will be too great.
And be like it or not Clare has a democratic mandate for the decisions she makes. It’s far from criminal. It’s a legally valid decision as part of a 4 year mandate
That's something that they're SAYING you'll get but won't put in writing. What I hope is done now is some regeneration but not with massive profits AND fees for the builders.
I'd also like to point out that the most expensive part of a building project in London is the land. The council own the land already. If they were eligible for a buy-to let mortgage for the costs of demolition and rebuild then given the social rents that they charge and current interest rates it would be more than possible.
This looked like what you say it is, if you were credulous and didn't look to closely.
BBC Radio London interviewed Nora Mulready and Stuart McNamara this morning, starting after the 0815 traffic bulletin till 0830. Programme link here (good for 30 days only) -- http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05s63gn
"Given a legal guarantee" was an interesting phrase used and repeated.
Let's look at the terms 'moderate' and 'hard left'. These terms are thrown around casually by the media and thus pass into common usage without definition. In reality they mean those who accept globalisation, privatisation and marker forces against those who believe in state funding and democratic control over education, health, energy, and transport. There was a time when this kind of state involvement was mainstream thinking by all parties but in recent decades the private sector have had their snouts deeper in the trough. The pendulum is swinging the other way now and the fat cats are screaming about reds under the bed..
