Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Below is the text of an email I received this morning - for info if you're interested. If you want to book a place or have any queries you can email woodgreensfuture@soundingsoffice.com

Informed by the findings of previous consultation stages, options have been developed to deliver long-term improvements to Wood Green. We would like to invite you to have your say on these long-term plan options (next 10-20 years) and to give us your ideas for short-term projects (coming 1-3 years) as well.

I also received this invitation - and was surprised so to do - I'm not party to any planning debate about Wood Green.

But I did write my email address on the visitors sign-in sheet at the first Wightman Road Bridge closure meeting last December. I've not received any email feedback from that meeting, nor the second one last week.

So, I am surprised that I've had an invitation (and a second one this evening) to contribute my views on Wood Green's regeneration, but no direct info about our Harringay local six-month problem.

Bluntly, it feels like the information I volunteered to the council for one purpose has been hijacked for quite another, to help legitimise their wishes for Wood Green.

I got one too - I imagine because I used to go to the Transport Forum. I don't know if that is still going as I haven't seen notice of meetings and agendas for some time but I would have thought that the bridge closure would have been relevant.

The Transport Forum is still going, next meeting Tuesday 8th March 1600-1800 at the Civic Centre (well the last one was there). I asked about it a while ago and was sent minutes etc by Edwin Leigh, Principal Transport Planner. I can't see it on the list of meetings on the council website though.

And I suppose I shouldn't be critical, at least they're asking me what I think, even if it feels a bit sly.

Interesting

"

You were subscribed to this list because:

You are receiving this email because we find you an important stakeholders in the process of improvement of Wood Green. Please let us know if you do not want to be part of that mail list. "

This second one was sent to the email address that I use for casual contacts, not the one the Transport Forum has. It's the address I registered for HOL. Have they been able to harvest addresses from HOL ?

I suppose there are more important things to worry about

Not with our knowledge, John. (We're only casual!?!? Gor blimey)
I too haven't heard anything back from the Wightman Road Bridge Closure meeting despite having left my email address and sent a follow up email to the highways chap who was there.
I hope they gentrify it. It's not in keeping with their neighbours in harringay :p

I was told that Option 1 = 4,600 dwellings consisting of studio, one, two and three bedroom apartments had already been approved before C2 go ahead.

But no improvement or expansion scheduled for Wood Green station although it will be expected to service a further 10K or more commuters

Slighty off topic, but sticking with the 'future of Wood Green'..

Does anyone here have a say about the proposed future for the CPZ? (apologies if I cannot find an existing forum covering this):

www.haringey.gov.uk/current-parking-consultations

I suggested a toll bridge to keep haringayers from sneaking up the no tree green lane hill and snaffling the Wood Green bargains.

You've got your beautifully desolate insect hotel and plastercast white elephants, any more is pure greed (lanes).
Well, as long as it's a two way arrangement........
We would just build a tunnel underneath going straight into town.

Oh, hang on ... :)
