Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

All without leaving the immediate area today:

1) A visit to the market at Portland Gardens for lovely fresh bread and veg (all right, the bread was expensive, but the veg was not)

2) A stop at the Hungarian shop for fabulous wine (Bock Kekfrankoš, mighty good and under ten quid),

3) A quick run to Baldwin's butchers for a delicious brisket,

4) and to Yasar Halim for those excellent Cypriot potatoes, with a last-minute impulse to get an apple pie for dessert too.

This will make for as good a dinner as can be hoped for. I'm thinking that our neighbourhood must be some kind of gourmand's paradise.

Whats this Portland Gardens market please?

I have passed those Yasir Halim Apple Pies off as my own! (blushes)
Where's the Hungarian shop please?

Paprika Store, 50 Grand Parade. HTA map here - mouse over each block of shops to show the names.

Do try the Turu rudi in the paprika store. A delicious confection of dark chocolate covered cottage cheese. Much nicer than it sounds!

Good, because it sounds awful! ;)

Great - thanks.

Hang on, Market in Portland Gardens?..
