It does credit The Age special correspondent, although it could still be agency copy. As someone else said, pinch of salt time. The real story may well have been the empty seats - it was 1947 and money was tight. It was also June so not the best time of year for an event like this.

Reading about Sir Thomas Beecham at the Harringay Arena made me recall going with our class to see Sir Malcolm Sergeant conducting his orchestra in an open-air concert for children in Finsbury park. It would have been some time between 1949 and 1951. Is there anybody else around old enough to remember this?
