If, like me, you have been monumentally shaken by what happened on Wednesday at Grenfell Tower you may be interested in signing this electronic petition as I did last night.
I do not normally share things like this, but I thank my lucky stars that the worst that might happen to me if there was a fire and I had to decide between the flames and jumping is a couple of broken legs. If you feel the same way then put your mark on this. Believe it or not you would be surprised to know that politicians do actually listen to these kinds of protests!
I hope that Haringey are looking very, very closely at this and rapidly re calibrating their risk assessments!

Signing a petition doesn't seem to achieve anything unfortunately; it is just a means to verbally vent your opposition to a particular policy or person.
Educating oneself and using your vote is the obvious way you can really change things tbh.
But I am pro any form of getting the people's voice heard on this issue, be that petitions, demos, donating money, goods etc
I've been involved in peaceful marches and supporting petitions over many years and they do help to promote the cause but I do agree with Alison's point about providing the desperately needed financial aid.
Look round your home now and imagine if you lost everything including items you've had for decades'
The Red Cross was asked to set up the UK Solidarity Fund to help Manchester, Westminster and now the Fire victims. Please donate but you can raise so much more if you collect among your pub, school and other neighbours making sure you get authorisation, of course. I've seen the excellent work of Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies here and in many other countries so was pleased with the £365 I collected last Saturday at the Crouch End Festival. Fundraising can be fun even if the cause is heartbreaking
It is extraordinary that any educated person could possibly believe that foam polyethylene is not flammable. I hope the persons that proposed it as a suitable cladding and agreed to it are held responsible for the consequences of an obviously flawed decision.
I see that Haringey has not made a public representation that this material has not been used in any high rise buildings in the borough. It does assure us all materials used are acceptable under building control standards which is a matter of interpretation. Have we heard that somewhere before? Perhaps from a Kensington and Chelsea Housing Management Association?
Antoinette, I have to disagree with you on this. This is a very necessary piece of work.
Without boring you, below are two IR images of a concrete clad building I am very familiar with. 1973 build, pre oil shock, zero insulation!
The brighter the image the higher the heat loss. The very bright areas are were radiators sit inside the building.
What is at issue here, is that key piece of modernising our building infrastructure has been done by:
At no point has anyone taken a step back and said 'what is the worst thing that could possibly happen, and how to we check to make sure it does not?'
Sorry, I am annoyed and ranting! Someone needs to go to jail for this!
Well the reality is that these people can get away with murder, a little difficult sadly with so many people dying, the problem will come when trying to obtain justice and compensation, their solicitors and experts will destroy you like what my wife and I had to experience in a horrific accident destroying the both of us, the harm done by the solicitors was soul destroying, a little difficult when they have killed so many people. I would like to tell you all what we had to experience and how wicked they can be probably in a separate post.
Well Patrick, if they are to get the justice they deserve there is a need to work fast while the world is watching before they can make all the excuses under the sun to cover up their pathetic greed. this people place so little value on ordinary people's life.
Well if you find yourself being a victim, without a voice here is a group that you can belong to and participate in helping each other to get the message through, https://victims-unite.net/2017/07/24/two-of-the-llangunnor-six-in-c...
