Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Two emails dropped into my inbox inviting me to Green Flag raising ceremonies at Fairland Park and Railway Fields.

They are both happening at midday on Wednesday 28th. We are invited to Fairland Park to help celebrate this award.
Please let Catherine Price 020 8348 6005 know if you would like to attend the ceremony at Railway Fields

Fairland Park is the latest local park/Green Space to be awarded a Green flag or pennant, joining Railway Fields, Chestnuts Park, Finsbury Park and the GRA Community Garden. Other local winners can be seen on this map Just enter your postcode on the search box

The annual award of Green Flags for outstanding parks across England has seen the borough win 19 flags, meaning Haringey now has the second highest number of council-run Green Flag parks in London in the Keep Britain Tidy awards.

Five parks have won Green Flags for the first time: Belmont Rec, Fairland Park, Markfield Park, Paignton Park and Russell Park.

Eleven parks run by the council have retained their Green Flag status: Albert Road Rec, Bruce Castle Park, Chapmans Green, Chestnuts Park, Coldfall Wood, Downhills Park, Finsbury Park, Priory Park, Railway Fields, Stationers Park and Wood Green Cemetery.

Three other parks in the borough which are not run by the council have also been awarded Green Flags: Tottenham Marshes, Highgate Wood and Alexandra Palace.

Six local community gardens have also been awarded Green Pennants. The award is a national award that recognises high quality green spaces in England and Wales that are managed by voluntary and community groups. The winners in Haringey are:

. The Gardens' Community Garden
. Lordship Community Woodland
. Living Under One Sun
. Mannock Road Community Allotment
. Hornsey Church Yard and
. the Bowes Park Community Garden
