give yourself a treat and support your local trader!
we only have 2 good French restaurants in Crouch End, on,y one is open at lunchtime, then only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays but you will eat extremely well I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch last Friday but felt sad for them that there were so few customers and hope they don't change their hours

It does seem that French restaurants have one thing in common....inconsistency. As a result of posts here I have looked at Aix, Le Bistro and Les Associes on Tripadvisor and Google reviews. People have had good experiences and downright bad ones.

Never had bad food or bad service at either Aix or Les Associes. The former can feel a little cramped at the front (nice function room at the back for a small party), the latter has a quirky ambience - it's basically someone's front room in a residential terrace.
Food has always been good at the Bistro when I've been. We did have a row with the waitress one time but the manager's always been very friendly.
Anyone remember Le Cadre? Excellent food but service was haughty to the point of rudeness, I wasn't surprised when they shut.

Like others here on my only visit to Le Bistro I found the manager or owner or whoever he was singularly aggressive and unpleasant and I would never go there again. With regard to the attitude in French as opposed to Turkish restaurants the solution to that is to go to France. French restaurants in London I find tend to err on the side of pretension and are nothing like the honest nutritious family run places that are so plentiful in Paris. I don't know what the fellow at Le Bistro was but he certainly wasn't French.

The manager at Le Bistro is definitely French and invariably friendly whenever we've been.
Maybe he has an evil (and non-French) twin?
