With a hat tip to the Gardens Residents' Association (GRA) who spotted this planning application, indications that the former Homebase unit at the Arena Retail Park is to become a B+Q.

Great news! A far superior brand (though Homebase's demise has led me to make more use of the the excellent Lido on Green Lanes).
Yes, indeed. That Homebase was useless. There were never any staff to check things or show you where particular items were. Most of the time the stock computer system didn't know what was in stock. B&Q is superior for DIY, whereas the Homebase was mostly kitchens and bathrooms. And you are right about Lido - they have always been good.
I miss the plants at Homebase. Luckily I since discovered Green On The Lanes for indoor plants
That is good news. I was up there yesterday and thought that little corner really needs a leg up.
I’m a bit disappointed as I understood that it was going to become The Range. There’s already a B&Q, albeit small, on WG High Rd. Presumably that will close?
There's also branches at Holloway Road and Tottenham, so I think they're content to have lots of branches within a smaller area. I imagine in inner London the customer radius for a store is quite small.
Well I hope this new B&Q will be better stocked than the one in WG High Road. I appreciate it is much smaller but whenever I have needed anything from paint (big name brands) to light bulbs they don't stock it. Can you imagine any DIY store not selling Dulux paint.
