Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I noticed yesterday someone had left an unsightly load of building waste on Seymour road. I have just come down Pemberton road this morning and noticed the same waste again. It appears that a rouge builder might be dumping waste on the streets when there is no one around.

I wish I saw someone doing it once....They left quite a lot once, just opposite my house, and now sometimes before going to bed, I look through the window, just in case...so annoying and frustrating....I wish the council did more to catch them....

Not saying that they are the only ones, but beware the blokes who knock on your door offering to take way rubbish for a bargain price. It doesn't often get as far as the dump, a street corner is more convenient.
I use the report it app all the time and usually get a good response

Thanks for the link - I have now downloaded the app taken pictures and reported it to the council on both roads. Hopefully it will be removed quite soon.

I think there's a lot less fly-tipping since Wightman Rd was closed though. A lot less litter in general really.

My experience is the complete opposite John - I have seen a lot more litter, particularly in Green Lanes.

On Green Lanes, sure, but on the ladder, less. The detritus that would be ejected from the footwells of cars is definitely not on show here anymore.

I must once again find and post a link to Liz Ixer's superb Ethnography of Dumping. Many newer members of HoL may not have seen it.
As you know, John, dumping from car footwells was one of the categories.

Footwells, maybe. There is more litter and dumped rubbish than usual in the ladder roads over the last 3 months or so.

I don't drive or cycle so I see these things on foot at different times of the day.

i agree, it's been terrible recently.

I also use the Report It app and am making as many reports as I ever did...once a week at least
I had received two emails to say the reports were closed - so I assumed the waste had been collected. I have just come home to find the waste still on the street. I contacted veolia directly. The response was yes they have located the waste however cannot proceed to clear it because the grab truck that is needed for health and safety reasons, is out of service. (handles hardcore waste). For how long - don't know! So the waste will remain on the street and in no doubt encourage others to add to it. What is annoying a large company like veolia doesn't have alternative provision to remove the waste.

I have now contacted the council directly and a report is being sent to the neiggbourhood action team.
Hi Anthony
How frustrating. Thank you for the reporting and the update :)
