Hearing via Twitter of the full closure of Wood Green High Road N22 (from Turnpike Lane to Alexandra Road) to last 3-4hrs due to a building fire.

Yes, it was the top floor above Ladbrokes. I walked past before they cordoned everything off, I think just before that window blew out. Big crowd of people watching as firemen climbed up into the next window. Then the whole street totally filled with smoke. Looked very alarming.

Heard about this via Twitter - a friend of mine had to spend the entire evening in McDonalds - but apparently she is one of the lucky ones as several of her neighbours have had to go and sleep elsewhere. Sounded awful...

This happened opposite my flat. Couldn't get home as High Road was cordoned off.

Saw the Standard news report on this. Terrible that someone died. Looks like it was subdivided into bedsits.
