Hi,
Could someone tell me if I would need planning permission to extend the back of my garden flat? Our neighbours have extended on both sides (as has most of the road) and I was planning on doing the same.
I couldn't work out from the councils website if I needed permission or not as the explanation was ambiguous to say the least.
Has anyone extended on the ladders, specifically Frobisher Road and if so did they get planning permission, I assumed you would need it.
Any help and advice on this would be great.
Thanks

Hi
You will need to on the basis that you are a flat in a building with other residents. It is very important that the plans you or your architect come up with are discussed with the other residents of the building prior to the application going in. Good communication is very important for you in this instance. Remember these could be your closest objectors to your proposal. Objections = more design = more money or a planning refusal.
As part of the application going in you will also need to serve notice to each of the residents of the building. I was looking at the form yesterday in fact for something I was working on.
Have you consulted with your neighbours over how they extended their flat/ house?
