Hi all.
Has anyone else noticed how horrific the images are on a constant loop being beamed out of the windows of Ersan & Co opposite the Salisbury?
When it was first being refurbished, it was a mystery as to what it was going to be, then as the 'PERSONAL INJURY, 'ACCIDENT CLAIMS' and 'MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE' banners were unveiled it became clear that it is a ambulance chaser megamart.
So what right? These [sort of firms*] have to be based somewhere.
My gripe is that they show videos on a constant loop of all of the worst things which can happen. There is one video in particular which features an awful car accident where a car crosses into the oncoming lane and is obliterated by a truck. I have been in a couple of car accidents, and they are no joke, and it struck me that this is particularly inappropriate footage to be broadcasting to the general public 24 hours a day.
Also the monitors seem to be beaming these out at about a million lumens, they illuminate the whole street, thankfully my bedroom is not on the street side or I would need blackout curtains.
Who can I complain to? (Besides you lot...)

I saw the horrible car crash video today when I was waiting at the lights to cross the road towards the Ersan premises. I've made a complaint with the council. I do not want my kids seeing those images on the way to school every day.
With you until you used the phrase "coming up", and a loud buzzer sounded in my head...
CHRIS, there seems to be a small industry feeding sales leads to companies like this.
Many of us have received cold-calls asking us whether we'd suffered an accident recently. I've had many such, most recently on Monday.
A gentleman with a distinct Indian accent called on a less-than-perfect line, claiming to be from some outfit with a name like accident helpline. It appeared to come from an Indian call-centre and I asked who he was and what was his name.
He told me his name was "Peter". I said this wasn't a good start, and asked him a few times, what was his real name.
At the outset, he had begun by addressing me as "Sir".
I confess to a sense of achievement when, within 60 seconds, he slammed down the phone, but not before I had disturbed his poise.
He had broken into a tirade toward me of maternal references coupled with a word like mucker.
This 'industry' is a class act.
Not!
Saw them for the first time last night after a nice meal at Hala.....God-awful...can't believe they can just do this....
So what made the Colosseum / Coliseum famous in the first place if not blood, guts and gallons of gladiatorial and christian plasma?
Still, I suppose it was a bit shortsighted of Paul Simon or KFH not to let it to a nice bloodless betting shop when they had the chance.
Estate agents are the new lions, OAE - and house prices the new Christians. Or something like that.
Yep, the screens are back. Just passed by with my daughter to be treated with a car being obliterated by a truck. And a woman being forcefully knocked off a ladder by a forklift. Unbelievable!
I went in again to complain, spoke to a guy who was unbelievably rude and told me that they had improved the films - this was the nice version! He seemed to think it was my problem and said that they were actors and, again, that I could see this sort of thing on television.
Please go in and complain to them. I'll also complain to the council.
Well yes you see these adds on Sky News which we have to watch all day at work... but in your own home you can change channel or even, at a push, turn the television off!
Exactly! What's next? Baldwins broadcasting a live feed of animals being slaughtered?! I'm only half joking...it's amazing that they're allowed to broadcast into the street on screens of that size, regardless of the content. What if all the traders did that?
Can't be great for the environment either - leaving massive screens broadcasting to an unwilling audience day and night. A council making any attempt at being 'green' would be crazy to endorse such a thing.
