I think it would be best to send the photos to the neighbourhood police team - worth Googling who that is - our local ones were very effective at stopping a bike thief and a serial fly tipper within a few weeks of reporting.

If it’s on the path, I doubt the council will clear it. Not sure if they’ll deal with prosecuting for the offence. Seema?

No the council won't be responsible for clearance and or prosecution as I believe the land is owned by Thames water. So this guy not only dumped his waste onto someone's land illegally but parked up in the middle of a carriageway and on a zebra crossing to do so. What a total scumbag.

Failing all else, there is evidence enough to secure a prosecution for parking on a zebra.

I just walked down the path from Wightman Road to the foot-bridge and there are no discarded boards of any kind to be seen.

Whether this is evidence of rapid enforcement I cannot say.  It is, however the case that some timber building work has been going on in the back garden of 203A Wightman Road and the contractors have taken debris out and brought materials in via the New River Path and through or over the fence at a point which corresponds to Alison's description.  When I saw them last week they were carefully removing all the bits and pieces and leaving nothing at all for more than a short time.  Moreover, I noticed some of their deliveries and removals taking place and, in those instances, they certainly didn't stop even temporarily on the zebra crossing.  Not that Alison said that they did.

I walled by there at about 10:30 this morning and there was certainly construction going on in the garden of one of the properties backing on to the New River entrance path - wonder if they were getting stuff in that way rather than carrying it through the house?

EDIT- just had a look at Google maps and it was the rear of 203

Some years ago, 203 was divided into two separate houses. The southern one is 203B and is now arranged as three flats. The ground floor flat has a small garden which is the first one seen from the New River Path. The other house is 203A and has the second garden you come to when walking down the path. Quite a lot of both gardens is actually leased from Thames Water as the ground belongs to the New River.

Ah thank you all. I did wonder this but could see no way of the materials being moved. The fact the guy took the gate off the hinge and didn’t bother replacing it also made me assume he wasn’t legit.

To be clear, he didn’t park on the zebra - the photo was taken as he drove away.

I've just seen this thread. Plainly useful in that a problem was spotted and quickly reported. Then informally "monitored". With a more or less satisfactory outcome.

Seems to me a good example of how a neighbourhood website enables Jane Jacob's famous "eyes-on-the-street" to work quickly; as the pairs of eyes here shared small pieces of information.

Perhaps a missing piece is a little thanks and feedback from whoever "official" got Alison P's initial report — which may have led to action taken. Especially if they read this thread.

Or maybe, Alison, someone did contact you directly? (Understandably, not wishing to give their name publicly & risk becoming a "soft door" for future reports?)

Hopefully when some other dead wood is cleared away next May, such examples may persuade new councillors across Haringey that active local websites are often helpful.
