Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Recently a user of the said Gym I am fed up of parents who allow their offspring to use the gym equipment when it clearly states under twelve years of age not allowed to use the gym equipment and another bug bear of mine is the other users using the gym equipment as a clothes horse whilst using another piece of the gym equipment take your clothes and place it by the gym equipment that you are using.

Have to agree. Its a good gym but some parents just allow their kids to use it as a playground.

Well, that's just terrible. These " kids " should be up chimneys, down mines or tending looms. If they have enough time and energy left after that, let them play in the street.

Not a helpful comment at all.

It beggars belief that you can't see "up chimneys" for what it is. It's not serious.

This happens in Finsbury Park all the time too - I'll turn a blind eye if it's quiet, but if the kids are actually making it difficult for the gym users to get a turn on the equipment I always have a word. Usually the parents get embarrassed and take the kids off to the actual kids' playground, so it's worth just asking.

Sorry, but I have zero sympathy given the actual kids' playground is usually dominated by adults - who shouldn't even be in there - working out.

One of them sometimes is, you're right. I don't think they should be there either. If I had kids wanting to play in there I'd have a word with them, too. Not really sure of your problem here?

No, the frog playground is in almost constant use by adults exercising. Does the outdoor gym say kids can't use it? And why can't you see the problem?  It's already been explained here and elsewhere.  I shouldn't have to go round constantly confronting selfish posers who can't see past the end of their pecs

Yes, well kids under 12 are not allowed at least. This is made pretty clear on the sign.

You seem to be falling into a two wrongs making a right kinda loop here...

I don't know where I said that adults using the kids playground was OK?

Well, there's a helpful comment from abster. If you're not happy with what people are doing - confront them.

They may not read HOL.

I shall have a word with them for it seems that they are unable to read the signs.

I'm not usually one to stick up for children …… but, whilst I see this happening in the Finsbury Pk gym, I see adults using the childrens play area and equipment as gym equipment thus excluding the kids. So, it might be tit for tat. Some adults see parallel bars and the like and ignore the sign saying for children only!

Enforcement… who is going to enforce it? We have I guess, to speak out and say something to them, whether parents who let kids use gym equipment or adults using the kiddies stuff.
