I use Crystal Wndows of Romford.
Yes. Really pleased with service and work. Local too.
We are gradually replacing all our sash windows with identical new double glazed ones from here
The windows look great and they are very nice and efficient
Another shout out for Acorn - they were a brilliant company! High quality work, attention to detail, professional reliable service from start to finish!
And all for a very reasonable price :-)
Can't recommend enough- and havnt even been prompted by them!
obviously prices will have gone up but what roughly was the price per window? Thank you!
We have had windows fitted by two local companies in the last year or so, replacing original windows with double glazed wooden sashes. Obvs nothing is cheap (£2000-2500 per window, which means £7500 or so for a bay).
1) Bekim/Stroud Green windows - cheapest option we found, perfectly serviceable job.
2) The Joinery Shop - premises in Finsbury Park station, lovely job also.
Either we are not that picky, or the building/fitting isn't that complicated a process. When we were ringing around we were getting estimates as high as £3500 per window, which probably means a super sensitive job but arguably one which is a bit too good for a bog standard Harringay terraced house.
I have never purchased a wooden sash replacement window so have no price information to offer. I did however buy a PVC window to fill a gap which was once occupied by a sash window. It was the same size exactly of several others I have that are still original sash windows.
The specification from Crystal Windows was as follows:
A + 11 ENERGY RATED WINDOWS
70MM MULTI CHAMBERED PROFILE
28MM ARGON INERT GAS FILLED SEALED UNITS
PILKINGTON ENERGIKARE GLASS
HIGH SECURITY MULTI POINT LOCKING SYSTEM WITH NIGHT VENT FACILITY
WARM EDGE TECHNOLOGY SPACER BAR
LEAD FREE UPVC GUARANTEED AGAINST DISCOLOURING, WARPING OR CRACKING.
It was supplied as grey externally and white internally.
The price quoted was: “supply only including survey, delivery and VAT- £750.00”
If I had wanted installation too, Crystal would have charged a further £1400 because it was in such an awkward place they would have insisted on putting up scaffolding. I bought the thing on a supply only basis and got my own builder to install it for which he charged a couple of hundred. The result has been perfectly satisfactory.
