Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Do you ever nip to the supermarket in your pjs?

It seems that a Tesco's in Cardiff has had enough of people shopping in their slippers and nighties and have banned people from entering their store unless they have proper clothes on

What do you think? Is this the end of civilisation as we know it? or a lot of fuss about nothing? Do you regularly slip down the shops in your chicken slippers? Have you shopped at Sainsbury's in your wincyette nightie?

When I was young I was regularly turned away from places because of what I was wearing/how I was dressed.
but were you in your karate style pyjamas at the time?

This issue seems to have arisen because of the 24 hr stores that mean people pop out at all hours for a pint of milk or whatever and can't be bothered to put proper clothes on. I was wondering if any late night shoppers in Sainsbury's had ever been glimpsed in their pjs or indeed if anyone was a regular shopper in their slippers? I think all I've ever done is nip to the corner shop in slippers having pulled a pair of jeans on over a nightie when I was a student but if anyone ever noticed, they never said anything.
Sounds like you should be sharing pictures John.
I occasionally nip along WR for my morning paper, commando style.

Surely Tesco are missing a trick here? Rather than banning pyjama wearers from their emporia, they should be flogging them Tesco jeans and denim tops before allowing them back out on our streets.

These sartorial habits may well be celtic fringe urban culture. Primary schools in Dublin, Belfast and Glasgow have had similar problems with nocturnally clad mums.
Yes, this poor woman does seem to have had her civil liberties compromised, I can see why she is so affronted. I'd be mortified if I'd been refused my Lambert and Butler's whilst only clad in my nightie. It's a disgrace. She should contact her MP.
I have noticed people lately clad in summer type clothes with cut off shorts and sandals in sainsburys. Should they be banned for getting the time of year wrong? I mean... if they want to open 24 hours then dont expect us to get all neat and tidy. Sometimes I wear my nighttime wear all day. Its a comfort. Its a break. Why change just to go to Sainsburys? They should be stricter about banning people who dont come with their own bags!!
I used the Tesco's local on Green lanes this saturday just gone, I was in my PJ trousers and flip flops...The security guard didnt say anything... Maybe it hasn't reached us out in the sticks yet.. obviously Wales is the newest trend setter... London is old news!!!
I'm not that bothered about what people wear to the supermarket, but I wish the security people would do something about scroungers reading, but not buying, the newspapers, particularly the ones who lick their fingers to turn over the pages. Luckily, it's usually The Sun :-)
