UPDATE: The budget was agreed on
A Council Tax freeze, a boost for frontline services and major efficiency savings are at the heart of a budget agreed by Haringey Council last night (Monday, February 22).
- More than £3.5million will fund schemes to help create new jobs, while investment in a credit union (we talked about this idea on HOL) will offer residents access to low cost finance.
- Efficiency savings will enable the council to invest £7.8million in service improvements, much of it focused on supporting vulnerable groups in children's and adult social care.
- Capital budgets have also been boosted to £217million with further investment in schools, parks and open spaces, leisure facilities, roads, footpaths, street lighting and equipment for disabled people.
- Efficiencies of £7million will be achieved by focusing on 'back office' savings.
