Haringey Council today announced that an extra £1.5million will be added to its £4.5million roads maintenance programme to cover the cost of patching up potholes.

The council claims it as "halved the pothole intervention threshold" - the depth potholes on residential streets need to reach before being repaired.

Residents will be able to report potholes using the council’s dedicated hotline, via its website, by email or through Twitter, using #Haringeypotholes.  A mobile app to be launched later this summer will offer a further on-the-go reporting option.

The Councils say that reported potholes will be investigated within two working days. Most, they claim, will then be repaired within seven working days, with dangerous potholes being repaired 'within 24 hours of being investigated'.

Potholes can be reported:

Online: www.haringey.gov.uk/potholes

Email: potholes@haringey.gov.uk

Twitter @haringeycouncil using the hashtag #Haringeypotholes

Telephone hotline: 020 8489 1335

Reports should include specific details of the pothole’s location. For example, “Outside number 20, Lordship Lane, N17”, rather than simply “Lordship Lane”.

Full information about potholes and how to report them can be found at www.haringey.gov.uk/potholes
