Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Council tax appeal
Hi all,
I have done a quick search and understand some of you have had similar problems in the past.
Due to being abroad, I have had some difficulties in paying the Council Tax bill on time. I wanted to set up a direct debit but the Council System did not have the right number of instalments. In addition, if I wanted to set it up by bank, there were contradicting info about their bank account details on the internet. I have contacted them and they have been pretty useless. On top of that they suddenly stop sending reminders, when they have always sent them.
Anyway to cut a long story short, they have now summoned to pay and I had to pay overcharges as well as the full amount. Having communicated to them in writing about their shitty payment system and info before, I now want to Appeal a) to get an explanation of the full amount they have charged me b) to get the overcharges re-fund. I have a couple of questions: 1. do you know what is the way to appeal, I went all over the website and I cannot figure it out. Is there an email? 2. Has anyone gone through similar experience and appealed? Anything relevant to share?

Hi Hugh,
Thanks so much. I had seen this which brings me back to Haringey Council. I also have the Council Tax team email address. I just wondered whether any neighbour had any additional info on the way to do Appeals or whether the Council Tax email is the contact to use. But, again, thanks!
