Consultation Documents Issued for Harringay's High Street
Further to my post last week, Haringey Council have today started a consultation for the Trader and GLA led project to spruce up Harringay's stretch of Green Lanes.
A copy of a six-page fold out document detailing the options for consultation is being posted through the letter boxes of Harringay residents today.
If you're a home and you've seen it, what do you think? Do you like the lights on top of the Salisbury?

I haven't compared what is discussed in that post to what is under consultation here but just wanted to flag the discussion about cyclists and the bus lanes. If anyone can help explain the plug analogy to me I'd be very grateful.
All of this said I really like a lot of the plan and want to see the detailed plans before I make my mind up. But like others am initially concerned about rush hour congestion and cyclists, who are pretty poorly served around here, in my humble opinion (as someone who struggles up Wightman Rd most mornings).

Just to clarify, on the illustrations of the new plans on the gl_a3_static_booklet_web_reva-2.pdf document, are the dashed red lines the exisiting roads?
Although the bus route may be only in force for 15% of the time, have there been any studies in terms of traffic patterns and usage numbers (particulary in terms of cyclists and bus passengers) on a time basis? I am sure that more than 15% of total cycle journeys takes place during those peak hours.
If there is the capability to reduce the necessary road space by such a degree then I am surprised that none of the suggested plans have been for a segregated cycle lane but instead for more car parking. Is this a result of the project being Trader and GLA led?
In the vicinity of this area there are three train stations, two tube stations and three very regular bus services (of which two are 24 hours) and that's before taking into account the various buses that travel along Seven Sisters road, Turnpike Lane bus station, etc.

Not sure I understand, the red dashed lines indicate the area affected by the plans but these also include the existing shop spaces and pavement - they aren't the existing road space (that is shown in a pale grey). Sorry if I've completely misunderstood your question though!

Hi, I can see that on page 6 (H Bus Lane Removal) that the red dotted lines represent the whole area, however, on something like the illustration page 10 (St Ann's Road junction) there are red dashed lines that cut through the proposed pavements, etc. From looking at the illustrations I'm guessing they are existing road widths but it's not clear.

Yes the Council aren't very good at correcting errors. They ran a job ad recently inviting people to come and work in a "thieving borough". I told them about that too, yet it was still there days later.

Very happy to be fair, John. In fact so happy I took the time and trouble to call the press office to let them know. The mistake was a mistake. But, I can tell you if any agency did that for my business and I was told about it, you can bet your bottom dollar it would be fixed within the hour.

Hugh, if you are kindly planning to send a copy of this thread to the appropriate people then can I very quickly add my voice to the 'getting rid of the bus lane would be madness' group? I would have though it a priority to promote the use of public transport and reduce the amount of traffic.
