Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Popped in last weekend to try Cafe Zera, which is next door to the new(ish) butcher, at the bottom of Mattison Road. I think it officially opened on Sunday so it was relatively quiet when we went on Saturday. Really friendly service, great selection of brunch and lunch dishes on the menu, not cheap but not too expensive (think £8-12 for a main dish). The food we tried (one panini - £8ish and one pancake breakfast - £12ish) were both really fresh, well cooked and tasty. And big portions! Child-friendly too with a small enclosed play area at the back (with tables next to it so you can eat while they play). Will definitely go again.

Since Snug closed down (sniff sniff) I have been on the look out for a new regular cafe/haunt.  Liz told me about Zera and I went there this morning (2nd April) for coffee.  It is a family-run small business. Aydin, the father figure, told me the family is Kurdish. Zera is his daughter and the place presents itself as a cafe/bistro (ie not a full restaurant) and will be more of a bar in the evenings.  I didn't eat today but the menu shows a full English (including bacon) at a reasonable price and a good selection of omelettes which I shall certainly try before long.  I am not a good judge of coffee but what I had was good and the brand is Nude (see: https://www.nudeespresso.com/about).

First impressions are good and I wish them luck.

I popped in for a breakfast and it was nice.  The little biscuit you get with your coffee is lovely!

Following up my visit on Tuesday I went to Zera this morning (Saturday).  Trudy (top coffee expert) had a decaf cappucino and pronounced it excellent.  She also checked out the kids area and plans to bring her grand-daughter.

I had a pot of English tea and an omelette with cheese and onion.  Everything was good and the bill for this lot came to £14.80.  On leaving, I was handed a flyer/menu which, upon presentation, confers a 10% discount on everything.
