Bus Breakdown and Motorcycle Accident Bring Gridlock to Green Lanes

A bus has broken down outside Yasir Halim bringing more misery to drivers on Green Lanes.  With the police on site directing traffic, apparently there has also been a motorbike accident outside the Arena Shopping Park.

Busy but moving when I drove back from Alexandra Palace just now. Took me 30 minutes back to Green Lanes/Salisbury Road junction, but yes looked busy going back towards Arena. Guess that car park is hell.

Very mangled black BMW bike on McDonalds corner. Taped off, and a police car still in attendance.

Mangled. Ouch. That implies an element of speed/force somewhere in that event. Any clues what happened? Did you get any indication as to the rider?

I just drove past and it looks to me like it must have gone under a vehicle.. judging from the offside broken wing mirror I'm guessing the bike was travelling south on Green Lanes... someone went across the junction to get into the Arena... side-swiped the bike and (hopefully) the rider would have been thrown clear before the bike went under another vehicle.. must have been big as the bike's flattened... I couldn't see any signs of blood so hopefully they are ok...

Another indication of why parking needs to be cleared off Green Lanes and onto the Ladder rung roads and the Gardens

Absolutely, there is really no argument for parking outside of those Grand Parade shops with a car park up the road plus the end of the garden/ladder roads. Such a simple remedy to alleviate a lot of the traffic bottleneck.

I can understand the rationale for limiting parking on Green Lanes but living at the GL end of a ladder road, it's already often hard to find parking spaces and I frequently end up at the top of the road. Bizarrely, it seems to have got slightly worse since Wightman closed for some reason. I'm not sure where the extra vehicles would go.

On the other hand, those 'trader permit' spaces on the Gardens N/S cross streets are often empty.

Slightly tabloid language in the original post - "bringing more misery to drivers". There have been accidents etc in the past blocking GL (one a couple of months ago) and I'm not convinced it's anything to do with the current traffic situation.

Well myself and Michael A both brought up the issues around the Arena junction when we were at the bridge update meeting...let's hope they take heed
