Builder recommendation for loft conversion

Check out Dan James Construction - http://www.danjamesconstruction.com/  They did ours last year and are currently doing our next door neighbours who live in a flat which needs proper planning permission rather than a house which is done typically through permitted development. 

We are on Lausanne Road and you cant miss their banner on the scaffolding.  Since we had our loft done we know of at least 5 other friends on the ladder who have used them or have booked them in.  Dan and Jamie are the consumate professionals.  They know their stuff, they are a pleasure to have around.

I use Dan James this year and they were excellent. I would be happy to pass on contacts and you are welcome to see the work they have done.

Be aware. If you are in a flat your need planning permission and permitted development is not an option for you. Just in case you may have missed it.

Another vote for Dan James. Although I hear they're already booked up until at least May. Not only are they excellent, but the sub-contractors they used for things like electrics and roofing were also top notch. We had no issue with foundations - not quite sure why a loft conversion would make a difference?

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions.  We had Dan James Construction come out & give a quote but I was a little deterred by the time it took for them to actually send back the written quote post the meeting.  They said it would take 1 week, but we didn't receive anything for 3.  I took that as a sign of things to come.  Maybe I was too hasty because I've heard many positive comments about them.  Thank you!

From experience, I would say that you shouldn't let that be a deterrent.  They are brilliant builders and project managers once on site.  They admittedly have too much work and need to dedicate more time to being businessmen!

Hi, we've just received Dan James quote and are happy with it but be good to hear more detail about your experience please...did the quote come in on price? Did they add hidden charges and did they complete relatively on time? We live in Wood Green and are looking for a simple no planning permission required loft conversion
