Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Just drove up Green lanes between Sainsbury’s and Manor House and encountered a very strong smell of gas. Have reported and apparently lots of others have too. In the meantime maybe don’t go for a walk in the area!

Green Lanes now closed. Someone official just recommended that my wife heading home to Vale Road stay away from the area (!), though no one has come knocking to say we should leave. When she did get home smell of gas was pretty strong when she opened the door.

That might explain why 29/141 are diverting both directions down St Ann's Road... And there being general traffic chaos...

Twitter tells us that Green Lanes is now closed between Seven Sisters Rd and Endymion.

This is helpful. I could smell a very strong smell of gas in Hermitage and called the gas company to report it was awful , they said an engineer would come out then the smell went away a bit and I felt a bit foolish so while I’m not happy we have gas everywhere am a bit relieved I wasn’t imagining it.  Am concerned my neighbour is sat outside her house having a fag tho .

Fortunately the minimum concentration for methane explosion is about 5% and that would be quite hard to get in open air.

Yes, at 2200 Green Lanes still police tape blocked both ways between Williamson Rd (Sainsbury's) and Hermitage Rd (guess that'll extend up to Manor House too).

Two fire engines in precautionary attendance on Green Lanes plus 3 marked police cars, smell of gas as I left Sainsbury's.

TfL still showing diverted GL bus routes as at 7:30am. Might want to check before you venture out today.

And on the 'Traffic' page.

Seems like there was an emergency closure of Seven Sisters Road along the south side of the park because of a house fire during the night too, but that’s reopened now.

No such luck for Green Lanes... it’ll be total chaos if this carries on into the new week.

Note if you want a bus in to town you can still get the 29/141 from outside Tesco, they just go on a bit of an excursion to get to Manor House.

May be a daft question but can you still walk up to manor house station along green lanes or is it closed to pedestrians as well as vehicular traffic? (Need to get to Waterloo so need to reconnect with the 341!)

I could last night walk as far as the Green Lanes/Endymion traffic lights, so you could walk up Endymion to the park entrance by the New River/near the zebra crossing and get to Manor House that slightly roundabout way. The southbound 341 is diverted along Seven Sisters Rd and turns left onto Green Lanes going south towards Clissold Park.

You can probably get the 341 on St Ann's Rd.

Info from TFL

Routes 29 141 341 N29 are on diversion due to the closure of Green Lanes between Manor House and Endymion Road following the discovery of a gas leak. Buses northbound are diverting From Green Lanes and turning right Seven Sisters Road, left St Ann's Road, right Haringay Road, left Colina Road, right Green Lanes to usual line of route.
